Ready to give it a try?
Feeling Your Strength and Mobility Slipping
“Sometimes I notice things I used to do without thinking now take more effort. Getting out of a low chair, reaching for something on a high shelf, carrying the shopping, or even just moving around first thing in the morning feels different. I feel stiffer, slower, and not quite as steady. It’s frustrating, and a bit worrying too.”
Over time, this can knock your confidence. You start wondering what’s safe, what’s not, and whether pushing yourself will only make things worse. Maybe you’re avoiding certain movements or feeling nervous about trying anything new in case it leads to an injury or more discomfort.
Our Fit For Life classes are designed to help you rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence in a safe and supportive way. Every movement can be scaled to suit your pace, and our coaches guide you through simple, effective exercises that help you feel steadier and more capable day by day. You’ll feel the difference quickly.
Worried About Balance, Falls, or Losing Independence?
“I’ve started to notice small wobbles when stepping off a kerb or walking on uneven ground. I grab railings more often, or feel unsteady carrying something light. These little moments stick with me, and I can’t help thinking, ‘What if I fall?’ The thought of losing my independence is frightening.”
Those worries can creep into your everyday life. You might walk more carefully, avoid certain activities, or feel tense when you’re in busy places. Even simple things like going for a long walk or playing with the grandchildren can feel less secure than they used to.
Our Fit For Life programme focuses on building the strength, balance, and coordination that help you stay steady on your feet. Every session is guided by a coach who adapts movements to suit your ability, helping you move with confidence again. Each week you’ll feel stronger, more stable, and more sure of yourself.
Feeling Out of Place in Regular Gyms?
“I often feel like I don’t belong in a regular gym. They’re loud, crowded, and full of younger people who seem to know exactly what they’re doing. It’s been a while since I last exercised — and sometimes I feel completely new to it — so the whole environment can be intimidating. I don’t want to stand out, feel judged, or get in anyone’s way.”
When you don’t feel comfortable, sticking to a routine feels even harder. You might want something friendlier, quieter, and more personal. Somewhere you feel seen, understood, and not rushed.
At NewWave, our Fit For Life classes are built around community. You’ll train with people your own age, at your own pace, in a small, supportive group where the coach knows your name and what you’re working on. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and designed to help you feel completely at ease while you get fitter, stronger, and more confident.
Why Do Crossfit Classes at NewWave Crossfit?

Feel Stronger and More Capable Day-to-Day
Our Fit For Life classes use simple, functional strength movements — things like squats, carries, and controlled lifts — all scaled to your ability. These exercises mirror the actions you do in everyday life. With regular training, you’ll notice ordinary tasks like climbing stairs, standing up from the sofa, or carrying shopping becoming easier and more comfortable.

Stay Steady on Your Feet and Reduce the Risk of Falls
Balance-focused work is built into every session. This includes step-ups, single-leg movements, and controlled drills that help strengthen the muscles and coordination patterns that keep you stable. Everything is done slowly and safely, with a coach guiding you through each movement. Over time, you’ll feel more stable walking on uneven ground and more confident moving around without worrying about wobbling.

Move with Less Stiffness and More Freedom
Each class includes a gentle mobility warm-up led by your coach. You’ll work through simple movements that open the hips, shoulders, and spine, helping reduce stiffness and improve joint comfort. As the sessions progress, you’ll notice your body moving more freely — getting out of bed, bending down, and reaching overhead feels smoother and easier.

Build Heart and Lung Health Without High Impact
We use low-impact cardio tools like the rower, bike, and paced conditioning circuits. These let you boost your stamina without putting pressure on your joints. You work at a pace that feels comfortable, and over time you’ll find you have more energy for walking, longer days out, and keeping up with family.

Train Safely with Coaching Designed for Your Age Group
Every Fit For Life class is fully coached, and every exercise can be scaled to match your ability — whether you’re a lifelong exerciser or starting fresh. Our coaches understand how to adapt movements for older adults, helping you train with confidence. There’s no pressure to keep up with anyone else; you progress in a way that feels safe and steady.

Feel Part of a Friendly, Supportive Community
You’ll train alongside others your age, in small groups where the coach knows your name and your goals. The sessions feel relaxed, encouraging, and sociable. Many people stay for a chat after class because they enjoy the atmosphere as much as the training itself. For lots of members, the community becomes one of the biggest benefits of all.
Why Do Crossfit Classes at NewWave Crossfit?

Expert Coaching Specifically for Older Adults
Every Fit For Life class is led by coaches who understand how to adapt movements for people over 60. They know how to keep sessions safe, effective, and confidence-building, whether you’re returning to exercise or starting for the first time.

Scaled Movements for Every Ability Level
You’ll follow the same structure as our main CrossFit classes, but each movement is adjusted to match your strength, mobility, and comfort level. No pressure to keep up — you train at the pace that’s right for you.

Targeted Balance and Stability Training
We include exercises designed to improve balance, coordination, and spatial awareness. Simple drills like step-ups, controlled single-leg work, and slow, mindful movements help you stay steady on your feet in everyday life.

Low-Impact Conditioning Options
Rowers, bikes, carries, walking intervals, and gentle circuits let you build heart and lung health without high-impact stress on your joints. You’ll get fitter without risking discomfort or overloading your body.

Small, Supportive Class Sizes
Fit For Life sessions are kept intentionally small so you get plenty of personal attention. The coach can watch your form closely, make adjustments, and support you throughout the whole session.

Friendly, Like-Minded Community
You’ll train with people around your age, creating a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where everyone encourages each other. Many members stay for a chat after class because it feels more like a community than a gym.

Functional Strength Equipment That Supports Safe Progress
We use dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, boxes, and other easy-to-grip, joint-friendly equipment. You’ll build strength through movements that translate directly into day-to-day activities like lifting, bending, and carrying.

Structured Sessions That Remove the Guesswork
Every class follows a clear plan: mobility warm-up, strength work, gentle conditioning, and a guided cool-down. You never need to worry about what to do or whether you’re doing it right — the coach handles everything.

Progress Tracking That Focuses on Real-Life Wins
Instead of worrying about numbers on a barbell, we measure progress in ways that matter to everyday life — getting up from the floor more easily, walking further without stopping, feeling steadier on steps, or carrying shopping with less effort. Your coach keeps an eye on how you’re improving week by week, so you can see and feel your progress without any pressure.
Your Crossfit Questions, Answered
Will the workouts be too hard?
The sessions are challenging in a positive way, but never overwhelming. Your coach adjusts everything — weight, pace, range of movement — so it always feels achievable.
What equipment will I use?
Mostly light dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, step-up boxes, and low-impact cardio machines. All easy to handle and well-suited to older adults.
Am I too old to start this type of class?
No. We work with people in their 60s, 70s, and beyond. Every movement is adapted to suit your ability, so you can train safely at any age.
Is it safe if I have joint pain or old injuries?
Yes. Your coach will adapt movements to protect your joints and work around any limitations. We focus on strengthening the areas that support long-term comfort.
Do I need to be strong before I start?
No. The whole point of the class is to help you build strength safely. You start with light weights and progress gradually.
Will the coach be watching my technique?
Absolutely. Classes are small so the coach can give you lots of attention, correct your form, and make sure you’re moving safely.
What if I struggle with balance?
That’s one of the main reasons people join. We include simple balance and stability exercises to help you feel steadier and more confident on your feet.
How quickly will I see results?
Most people feel improvements within a few weeks — more confidence, less stiffness, better balance, and more energy.
What if I haven’t exercised in years?
You’ll be fine. Most people starting Fit For Life are returning after a long break. We start slowly, build your confidence, and help you progress at a pace that feels comfortable.
Will there be people my age in the class?
Yes. Fit For Life is specifically for people over 60, so you’ll train in a friendly group of like-minded adults.
Will this help with day-to-day tasks?
Yes. The exercises are functional, meaning they help with things like carrying shopping, climbing stairs, bending, and getting up from the floor.
Is this suitable if I get out of breath easily?
Yes. We use low-impact cardio options where you can go at your own pace. Your engine improves over time without any pressure.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in and a pair of trainers. Nothing fancy or specialist is needed.
How long is each class?
Classes are usually around 45–60 minutes, including a warm-up, strength work, gentle conditioning, and a cool-down.
Will I be the least fit in the class?
Probably not — and even if you are, it won’t matter. Everyone trains at their own level, and the group is full of people just like you.
Do I have to keep up with the main CrossFit classes?
No. Fit For Life follows similar themes, but every movement is scaled for older adults. You train completely at your own pace.
What if I’m nervous about joining a gym?
That’s normal. Our classes are small, supportive, and relaxed. The coach guides you from the moment you walk in, and you’ll never feel lost or out of place.
Can I try a class before signing up?
Yes. We offer a free taster session so you can meet the coach, try the movements, and see if it feels right for you.
